Dr. Jay Adams founded the National Association of Nouthetic Counselors (NANC) with the intention that the organization and its rigorous certification process would serve as the foundation of the biblical counseling movement. Today, the organization is known as the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC) and is the oldest and largest biblical counseling organization in the world.
Paul described biblical counseling in passages such as Romans 15:14: “I myself am convinced about you, my brothers, that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, and competent to counsel one another.” In that passage, the apostle was encouraging members of the Roman church to engage in informal, mutual counseling, something that all Christians today should also learn.

In addition to holding a Masters Degree in Pastoral Counseling as well as certification through the Association of Certified Biblical Counseling (ACBC), I have benefited from Spiritual Direction and Christian Counseling for over 20 years.
While working in Senior Care, I have also counseled in several church ministries such as Albany Biblical Counseling, Americus Biblical Counseling, and have joined in starting Fleming Island Counseling in Florida where I currently live. My joy is being obedient to God through loving His people and sharing the hope and healing that comes through understanding and submitting to Scripture.

I am a wife of 25 years and a mother of 5 children (including 2 sets of twins). I am a member of Central Baptist Church in Americus, GA. I hold a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. The Lord has given me a heart for ministering to women, teenagers, and children. I am a fellow sufferer and sinner who has been changed by a compassionate and merciful Savior and by his grace alone he has redeemed me! I want so desperately to share that same hope to the hopeless, to see lives changed and to see Jesus glorified.
Americus Biblical Counseling exists because of a partnership between local churches that desire to serve our community. We desire to help people discover how lives are best lived through following God's word.
Americus Biblical Counseling was established in 2022 by Central Baptist Church. Dr. Bryan Myers, burdened by the brokenness in our area, began to meet with other pastors and discuss how they could work together to provide counseling and bring healing. It was out of this burden that Americus Biblical Counseling was born.
